When you have finished writing your ebook, you will want to format it properly so that it is ready to be sold or distributed to others. The best way to do this is to use a program called Adobe Acrobat. You can purchase a copy of this program on eBay. I use version 7 standard edition and it does everything I need.

The reason that this program is the best is that is uses a universal format to turn your word processing document into a portable document format, also referred to as PDF. There are several other programs available that will do a similar job with your ebook, but many of them are not standard to the industry and cause problems for people who are attempting to view you information that you've written.

When you are ready to convert your word document into the PDF format, save it first as another name. Then go through the conversion process and save the file as the name you will use to identify it. Do not leave any spaces between the words and make it a name that you will readily recognize.

Now close the word document and the PDF document and go back into Acrobat to choose your security settings. I allow people to print out the document and to cut and paste from within the document. These two things will make it easy for your reader to get the most from your ebook. I do not allow them to make any changes to the document and I do not require a password for them to be able to read it. These things keep my readers from being frustrated with the entire process.

Having the document as a PDF file makes it convenient to sell your ebook.
