Several printers use ink cartridges. Ink cartridges are available in colors and black. The inkjet printer uses ink cartridges to print on paper. Tiny droplets of ink are pushed out of the multiple holes of the ink cartridges onto paper in a controlled fashion to form desired letters and images.

There are three types of ink cartridges available in the market. An OEM cartridge or Original Equipment Manufacturer cartridge is the original cartridge that comes with the printer and is best suited for it. The second type of ink cartridges available is Compatible Cartridges that are specially manufactured to meet the OEM specifications. They are less expensive than original OEM cartridges and provide good quality printing. Another option is to buy remanufactured ink cartridges, which are mostly recycled cartridges and are not very expensive. Another economical way to purchase ink cartridges is to get them refilled. Refilling kits are available and easily to do. They contain compatible ink, a squeeze bottle or ink syringe and an instruction manual to assist in refilling the empty ink cartridge. However refilling is not possible for all types of cartridges.
